A delegation from the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, led by Chief of Staff Air Marshal Konstantinos Bouzos, is visiting Australia and New Zealand this week to take portion successful commemorative events marking the 85th day of the Battle of Crete.
The events are being organised by the Federation of Cretan Associations of Australia and New Zealand and bring together members of the Greek and Cretan diaspora alongside Australian officials and assemblage leaders.

In Brisbane, commemorations were attended by Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane, the Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Greece, Colonel Kyriakos Kyriakakos, the Honorary Consul of Greece successful Brisbane George Mastrokostas, and the President of the Cretan Brotherhood of Queensland Antonios Katsanevas, on with different guests.
The commemorations honour the sacrifice and resilience of those who fought successful the Battle of Crete successful 1941, with events continuing crossed Australia and New Zealand arsenic portion of broader remembrance activities involving veteran and diaspora communities.
