Erdogan-led assembly  backs two-state exemplary  for Cyprus

Turkey’s National Security Council, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, connected Tuesday reaffirmed that the Cyprus contented is simply a “national matter” and expressed support for a two-state λύση connected the island.

The assembly emphasized that such a λύση should admit the “sovereign equality and adjacent planetary status” of Turkish Cypriots.

The statement besides warned that Ankara will support a “resolute stance” against immoderate measures that could undermine the island’s “peaceful environment.”

Cyprus has remained divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded pursuing a coup by Athens junta-backed supporters of uniting the land with Greece. The resulting Turkish-occupied northbound of the land declared independency successful 1983, a determination recognized lone by Turkey.
